The Las Vegas nightclub scene is intimidating for many veteran visitors, let alone rank amateurs. So figuring out which mega club, luxury lounge or nightclub to party at can be tough stuff.
Odds are it’s a Saturday night on The Strip that’s at stake and for many folks this could be their biggest party night of the year.
So it’s crucial to know exactly what you’re getting yourself into with a visit to a nightlife venue. You need to know what venue best suites your personality. For example, Tao is a massive mega club that’s ruled by raucous revelers while Coyote Ugly is geared toward beer drinking and cat calling. In this article we’ll look at some of the mega clubs, while the next article will focus on more laid back lounges and bars.
Tao
What could be the most popular and largest mega club in Sin City, Tao Las Vegas (at the Venetian) is a massive 10,000 square foot party zone where hip hop, house and rock ‘n’ roll dominate. The $20 million dancing, dining and drinking complex has two main rooms, an outdoor environment (the sexy Tao Beach), and the most extensive collection of Buddah statues this side of Asia. Geared toward the most serious club goers, wallflowers are sure to feel left out in this jamming hotspot. The restaurant is open daily, but the nightclub is only open Thursday, Friday & Saturday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. It’s $20 for women and $30 for men. Bottle service start at $325 plus tax & gratuity and reservations must be made in advance. Call (702) 388-8588 or online.
Tangerine
For those looking for a club like atmosphere but desire their experience to be a little more calming and serene, Tangerine Lounge & Nightclub at Treasure Island is a good cross between a mega club and lounge. The 1920s burlesque style club features an outdoor area overlooking Siren’s Cove in front of TI that’s more conducive to conversation, and a smaller dance floor environment inside. For many this is a good way to strike up a chat with someone before asking them to dance. Located below Social House, those eating dinner at the sushi and sake restaurant can get VIP access to Tangerine through a back stairway. It’s a smart way to skip a line. Burlesque Performances are at 9:30 p.m. & 10:30 p.m., Thursday – Saturday and the club is open Wednesday - Saturday 9 p.m. - 4 a.m. It’s $20 for men and $10 for women and dress code is called casual chic. Call (702) 306-7100 for more information.
Jet
Nothing less than pandemonium, Jet Nightclub is the place to be for an out of control Monday night party. Though it’s not the largest club on The Strip, this is the prefect place for those looking to mix up the music throughout the night. With three separate rooms each playing a different musical genre (Hip Hop - Rock – House), there is something for everyone who likes music or dancing. However, with three separate sound systems this club is not a place for chitchat. Since Monday is the hottest night for the club and the biggest party on The Strip, we recommend buying VIP entry online that cost $40. The club is also opened Friday and Saturday nights from 10:30 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. For more information or table reservations call (702) 693-8300.
Studio 54
Modeled after the famed 1970s New York City nightclub, Studio 54 at MGM Grand is a throwback to disco days with a pop music twist. Known as the place to be seen in its original incarnation, the Vegas version incorporates the same DNA. The oldest of the current club crop, Studio 54 also attracts a more approachable crowd, so socializing can be a bit easier compared to other high velocity nightclubs. There are live acts through the night as gorgeous guys and girls perform aerial acts above the heads of those getting down on the dance floor. It’s open Tuesday through Saturday from 10p.m. until the early morning hours. For information call (702) 891-7254.
