Betting Streaks In Casinos

Proper handling of streaks is essential to successfully navigating the pitfalls found in betting. Too many gamblers try to fight streaks or play against them when accepting them and possibly using them to your advantage is the best strategy.

At any game played in a casino there will be numerous streaks that give the appearance of some validity. In many cases the best advice is to ignore them. Streaks are purely random and never have predictive value. As they say, the cards and dice have no memory.

What streaks can affect is mindset. Many players start playing poorly as a result of streaks. If a player has been losing many hands in a row at blackjack, there might be a tendency to change one’s betting. They might stop taking hits they should and not doubling when it is to their advantage to do so.

If a player reacts in such a way to adversity at the tables, the best advice when bad streaks occur is to walk away from the table and possibly the casino. One trait often found in casino players is being hardheaded. Why bang your head against a wall until you draw blood?

A better strategy is to accept some days will be good and some will be bad. When making a trek to your favorite betting spot this can be hard to live with, but if you acknowledge this and understand it will cost you money to fight bad days then you can go forward with continuing to fight bad trends.  I think most when they repeat this concept to themselves will find it possible to give up for the day or at least for a few hours.

Proper strategy also requires playing positive streaks with planning and some caution. You should be willing to put more money on the table when things are running your way, but just remember the cards and dice aren’t suddenly on your side. Even after winning 10 hands in a row the next bet is still a 50-50 proposition.

With this in mind, make sure your increased bets don’t get out of control. When raising your bets, make sure a loss or two won’t make you a net loser. Further don’t succumb to the temptation to try and ride one decent winning streak in order to get even on the day. If an extended winning streak comes your way you will make a nice score, but more likely the streak will end shortly. Lady luck is never friendly long enough.

Betting sessions must be taken separate from each other. The casino may have thousands of your dollars from your last 10 years of betting, don’t expect to get it all back today with one lucky streak. Treat every session as starting from even and work to make it a winning one, no matter the amount.

The best way to accomplish this is to set your win goals properly. Once you get ahead, make sure you leave ahead. Play with some of your winnings, but be ready to leave when you lose a bet or two. As mentioned before, avoid the “house money” mentality and remember when the chips are in front of you, it is now your money.

Betting streaks properly is yet another part of proper money management. Let the nature of betting work for you and you will leave with more in your pocket than if you just play haphazardly. Conservatively raise your bets when winning while being quick to get away from bad tables is the mark of just about all successful bettors in any casino game.
